Hey, I’m Hoang, founder of The Reactr Studio.
I was that artistic kid growing up- being asked quite often to draw and illustrate things for other people. My family didn't have a lot of money, so formal art school to me felt way too risky. It was on me to make higher education work – paying for it mostly through scholarships, some loans and finding a degree that would be a safe, practical career choice. Ya know, like medicine.
After years of school in undergraduate, graduate and then working 7 years working professionally as a Physician Assistant through fields like addiction, hospital and urgent care, I realized I truly just wasn't happy. I always returned to art when I was stressed. If it’s anything I learned in medicine, it’s that life is wayyy too short to have any regrets.
Ultimately, I knew I’d regret it if I didn’t give my artistic abilities the chance to thrive.
So, I stopped playing it safe. I stepped down from my secure career as a PA in 2022 to take the biggest risk of my life: to pursue art.
I still work per diem but I'm feeling happier than ever in this new chapter- growing creatively as an artist.
Art is medicine.
